HOUSTON, TX — July 10, 2026 — Houston Christian rapper and producer JLeww releases his new single “FAST” today, an independent gospel rap track built on personal testimony about fasting, discipline, and breaking cycles of self-sabotage.

The song is out now at jlewwmusic.com.

Produced by JLeww himself, the track pairs heavy 808s and live brass with a driving hook to turn an interior spiritual reckoning into a movement-forward anthem.

“FAST” grew from a specific and difficult season. JLeww was contending with patterns he recognized as self-destructive: fear, shame, avoidance, and the internal voice telling him he was not enough.

In the song, “Egypt” stands in for those coping mechanisms and the identity built around them. Fasting became his response, not as ritual but as confrontation — a way to stop feeding escape and enter what the song frames as spiritual warfare against the flesh.

The track’s most unflinching moment arrives in the line:

“A life full of pain and a self full of shame while 988 was on the phone,”

which grounds the song’s declaration of freedom in lived crisis rather than easy resolution.

“I spent a lot of time fighting myself,” says JLeww. “I remember this song came up when I needed something to break. And it was to fast.”

Self-produced entirely by JLeww, “FAST” drives with stacked 808 bass, punching brass, and a hook built for repetition and release. The arrangement moves with urgency rather than settling into reflection, pushing its weight forward through each section.

The production sits somewhere between the chest-heavy conviction of contemporary gospel rap and the momentum of street-informed hip-hop, landing closer to movement music than devotional listening.

The energy is uplifting and kinetic, but the lyrical stakes stay grounded in specificity: this is not a song about having arrived.

JLeww writes, produces, and releases his work independently from Houston, Texas.

About JLeww

JLeww is an independent Houston-based artist, songwriter, and producer whose work moves across Christian hip-hop, contemporary gospel, R&B, and other genre-blending forms. His music draws from personal testimony, faith, survival, and the tension between spiritual conviction and lived human experience.

Writing and producing much of his own work, JLeww approaches music as both storytelling and documentation — creating songs that do not shy away from pain, uncertainty, or struggle while still reaching toward freedom, faith, and transformation.
